The E92 is the only M3 generation ever fitted with a V8, a high-revving 4.0-litre unit that runs to 8,400 rpm. It also has a power-domed aluminium bonnet and a carbon roof, which lowers the centre of gravity slightly and looks good doing it. Its four exhaust tips sit in two pairs rather than spread across the bumper, and the front wings carry a small vent behind the wheel with a chrome M badge on it. The V8 was never used in an M3 again; the generation after it returned to a straight-six.
