The Ford GT is a modern retelling of the GT40 that beat Ferrari at Le Mans four years running from 1966. The flying-buttress rear pillars on the later car are hollow, with air passing straight through them to the rear wing. The 2017 car is narrow and tall through the cabin, with the two occupants sitting close together so the body could be as thin as possible through the middle. Its wheelarches are separated from the passenger cell entirely, with air passing through the gap.
