The S2000 was built for Honda's fiftieth anniversary and its four-cylinder engine revs to 9,000 rpm, which was extraordinary for a road car. It is front-engined, rear-wheel drive, and the gear lever sits high on the dash within a very short throw of the wheel. Its boot is tiny because the fuel tank sits between the seats and the rear axle, which is also what gives it near-perfect weight distribution. Honda used a digital instrument display with a bar-graph tachometer, unusual for a car of that era.
